Join us Wednesday, May 13 for the Plan Open House for the Union Square Neighborhood Plan. This meeting will focus on planning for Union Square’s public realm, new open space, and Boynton Yards. An additional meeting will be scheduled over the summer to consider in more detail the Union Square Redevelopment parcels and the fiscal impact of development in Union Square.
The Somerville by Design team has been working hard to process the feedback from the Charrette, reviewing surveys, and meeting with community groups, residents, and local business owners. We thank everyone who has taken the time to contribute feedback and ideas to date.
The Plan Open House will kick off at 5:30 PM at the Old Post Office with food trucks and streetside bike maintenance to help celebrate bike week! Please come early to enjoy the festivities, connect with neighbors, and take a look at pinup boards on open space, potential development scenarios, and the fiscal impacts of growth in Boynton Yards.
At 6:30 PM, a short presentation will be given on the planning process and plans for Union Square public realm, open space, and Boynton Yards. The presentation will be followed by an open question and answer session, as well as informal conversations with the Somerville by Design team stationed by presentation boards of the latest design plans.
So, come enjoy Black Magic Coffee Mo’s Barbecue Trolly, the Scoop N’ Scootery, and more! Bring your bike for a quick review by local mechanics and make sure you’re set to ride this summer! And give us your feedback on the work-in-progress for the Union Square Neighborhood plan!
